Infographics are a good way to explain a complicated concept clearly. By breaking down the different parts into simple graphics, they can help others understand and visualise they key elements of even the most complex issue.

The Health Foundation recently published an infographic to try and explain the barriers for accelerating change in healthcare, and the ways to overcome them. They’ve identified seven success factors and four barriers that prevent change being implemented successfully; and then have added some recommendations for approaches and what national bodies can do to support local organisations.

This is a useful reminder to stick on the wall, but as with any complex issue, an infographic hides much of the complexity of the issue; which is often where the failure can be found. This infographic reminds me a lot of the outcomes from the recent HSJ/Nursing Times Change Challenge, which goes into a little more detail about the barriers and solutions to making change happen.
