People in England can now expect to live for far longer than ever before – but these extra years of life are not always spent in good health, with many people developing conditions that reduce their independence and quality of life.

The health and care system have a key role to play in helping older people manage these long-term conditions, making sure they receive the right kind of support to help them live as well as possible. Our NHS Long Term Plan will give them greater control over the care they receive, with more care and support being offered in or close to people’s homes, rather than in hospital.

To achieve this ambition, we are supporting the development of an Improvement Community, bringing together like-minded individuals who want to make a huge positive impact. The community will work virtually to enable as many people as possible to get involved.

Please join our next webinar to find out what is happening, how your ideas can be incorporated and how best to get involved.

Ageing Well Community of Practice Webinar

Date: Tuesday 15 October
Time: 3.00pm – 4.30pm

We hope you will be able to join us for the virtual WebEx session for the Ageing Well Community of Practice. During the Webex, you will hear about the themes and outputs from the launch event on September 25th and learn more about what is happening across the Ageing Well programme. You will also learn more about how you can get involved with the improvement communities to amplify and accelerate the work in this area across health and care as well as ways for you to share your ideas and experiences with colleagues as we start to work on our shared priorities.

Who is invited to join the WebEx session?

The WebEx session today is aimed at everyone involved in an Ageing Well pathway. This includes Clinicians, Managers, Patient Leaders, commissioners, people from health and care, charities, public and voluntary sector.  You might like to join as a team if there are a number of you from the same organisation.  We can host over a thousand people so don’t worry about too many people coming!

Some advice on joining this WebEx

This will be an interactive session with the opportunity to have virtual conversations, ask questions and share your thoughts. We recommend that you join by WebEx rather than just by phone. You can take part in the WebEx via your smartphone but you will get the best experience by joining via a laptop or iPad.

You can join the WebEx any time after 2.30pm

If this is the first WebEx session you have joined, your browser will ask you to install some software. Allow the software to be installed and once this happens, the WebEx should start automatically. Once you have joined the WebEx, please follow the onscreen instructions to make an audio connection. If you have headphones, you can join via your computer. You can use the headphones from your smartphone, plugged into your computer. Otherwise, the system will show you how to join by telephone. It is usually very easy to do, even the first time.
