Dr Mike Evans tells us to think of Quality Improvement (QI) as a philosophy, outlook or an attitude. With an appearance by Don Berwick co- founder of the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, this film encourages us to develop curiosity about what could be better in healthcare. Dr Evans describes the expectations healthcare professionals have of patients to improve their health and acknowledges that in return, patients should expect care to be improved too. This requires all of us to develop skills for improvement.

This engaging film introduces the novice to a brief history of QI mentioning pioneers such as William Shewart, W.Edwards Deming and Joseph Juran. By using examples from real life, the viewer can begin to learn the important technical and human dimensions in QI. QI is complex but this film helps you feel confident to take the first step. Being focused on the patient is a good start.
